GATEWAY TO MT. KATAHDIN AND BAXTER STATE PARK
East Millinocket, in Maine works hard promoting tourism by encouraging visitors to take advantage of the rivers, lakes, streams and nearby Baxter State Park and Mt. Katahdin. The town of East Millinocket, east of many islands, was incorporated on February 21, 1907 and lies on the northern side of the West Branch of th e Penobscot River. In August of 1907, Great Northern started its' paper machines in East Millinocket, Maine.The town has an estimated population of 1,860. The Katahdin Region Higher Education Center provides for the college students and adults who wish to further their education. In addition, Millinocket Regional Hospital, physicians and dental services are located within 10 miles of East Millinocket.
