Bangor, located in Penobscot County, is the retail center for eastern, central and northern Maine. Bangor is known as the gateway to Downeast Maine as well as the Queen City of the East. In 1791, Bangor was incorporated into a town and incorporated as a city in 1834; it's known as the third largest city in Maine.

Bangor offers its' annual "Bangor State Fair", agricultural events, carnivals and the American Folk Festival on the city's waterfront. There are also shopping malls, downtown area, harness racing, sports and recreation, nearby parks, forests and waterways add to the variety of activities and happenings within the Bangor area.

From youth's sports to the Kenduskeage Stream Canoe Race, biking, hiking, golfing, skiing or snowshoeing, you will find plenty of recreational activities for families and visitors alike.

In addition, there are a number of media outlets: the Bangor Daily News, The Maine Edge and over a dozen radio stations and several television stations located within the Bangor area.

Centrally located, Bangor makes for the ideal "stay over" place while visiting eastern, central and northern Maine. Bar Harbor (east) and Camden (south) are only fifty miles from Bangor with Baxter State Park approximately 70 miles heading north.
