Bangor, located in Penobscot County, is the retail center for eastern, central and northern Maine. Bangor is known as the gateway to Downeast Maine as well as the Queen City of the East. In 1791, Bangor was incorporated into a town and incorporated as a city in 1834; it's known as the third largest city in Maine.
Bangor offers its' annual "Bangor State Fair", agricultural events, carnivals and the American Folk Festival on the city's waterfront.
